TeraMart Pty Ltd (ABN 87 696 148 204) ("TeraMart", "we", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What personal information we collect
- Identity β name, billing/delivery address, date of birth (where required).
- Contact β email, phone number.
- Account β username, hashed password, order history, wishlist.
- Transaction β items purchased, payment method (we never store full card numbers), shipping details.
- Communications β emails, chats, call notes.
- Marketing preferences β newsletter subscription, preference choices.
Automatically collected: IP address, browser, device, OS, referring URLs, pages viewed, marketing-email opens and clicks.
2. How we collect it
- Directly from you (account, order, contact, newsletter, review, trade-in quote).
- Automatically via cookies and analytics.
- From payment processors (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Afterpay, Zip).
- From distributors and carriers updating shipment status.
3. Why we collect it
- Create and manage your account.
- Process orders, payments, refunds and warranty claims.
- Deliver products.
- Respond to enquiries.
- Send transactional and (opt-in only) marketing emails.
- Prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
- Improve our website, marketing and support.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Payment processors β Shopify Payments, PayPal, Afterpay, Zip.
- Carriers β Australia Post, StarTrack, Aramex.
- Distributors β Leader, Anyware, Achieva, Dropshipzone (drop-ship fulfilment).
- Service providers β email, hosting, analytics, customer support, bound by data-protection contracts.
- Government / law enforcement β only where legally required.
5. Where your information is stored
On Shopify infrastructure (data centres in Australia and the US). Some service providers are overseas (US, EU, India). When data goes overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure APP-aligned handling.
6. Cookies & analytics
First-party and third-party cookies for login, cart memory, analytics (Shopify Analytics, GA4), personalisation, remarketing (Meta Pixel, Google Ads). You can disable cookies in your browser; some features will stop working.
7. How long we keep it
Only as long as necessary, and as required by Australian tax / consumer-protection / accounting law (typically 7 years for transaction records). After that, securely deleted or de-identified.
8. Your rights
- Access the personal information we hold.
- Correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
- Withdraw marketing consent at any time (unsubscribe link or contact us).
- Lodge a complaint about how we handle your information.

9. Security
TLS in transit, encrypted-at-rest databases, two-factor authentication for staff, access controls. Any breach is treated as a high-priority incident; affected customers and the OAIC will be notified where required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
10. Children
TeraMart is not intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their personal information.
11. Changes to this policy
Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage and emailed to account holders. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
